Last April 15, Saucony PH officially launched the Saucony Originals line in the Philippines at Black Market, Makati. The brand took us through their history with the Story of Running exhibit, digging deep into the archives from the 50′s up to the present. The exhibit showcased vintage designs and key models that has changed the story of running over the years. All time favorite silhouettes like the Jazz, Shadow and Grid were on full display, with new colorways soon to be released in the market. An area was also set aside for the famous collabs done with Saucony in the past years that would really make your mouth water. Innovation meets heritage. The Story of Running exhibit marks Manila as the next leg of its global tour, offering a rare glimpse of an iconic collection of footwear. Taking a trip down a century’s worth of running history, the display features the shoes that came before the hype. Exhibiting archive pieces from the 1950s to present day, Saucony Originals illustrates how the brand became an integral part of running history by creating a line of footwear that has been inspiring generations of elite athletes to their best performance.
Logging in over a hundred years of shoemaking, Saucony Originals offers what few others can: an authentic running heritage. Each pair in the gallery is a piece in running history. The Saucony timeline flashes snapshots of significant running events across the decades, from Rod Dixon’s unforgettable win at the 1983 New York City Marathon in his Jazz Original to the Grid 9000’s groundbreaking G.R.I.D. (Ground Reaction Inertia Device) technology launched in 1994. Through the Saucony Originals collections, sneaker enthusiasts become part of a running culture that spans the past century.
The exhibit highlights all-time favorites including the Shadow Original, Shadow 5000, Jazz Original and Grid 9000. On display were an extensive line of collectors’ items, from rare first editions of the classic silhouettes to rare collaborations like END. x Shadow 5000 “Burger”, BAIT x Shadow Original Cruel World 3 “Global Warming” and the Packer Shoes x Just Blaze x Grid 9000 “Snow Beach”.
