This year marks 35 years of one of Nike’s most iconic silhouettes, the Air Force 1. Originally designed as a basketball shoe by Bruce Kilgore back in 1982, the shoe has crossed over from the hardwood to the streets, instantly making it an undisputed classic sneaker and style icon.
Since its debut, the Air Force 1 has served as a blank canvas for artists and collaborators, going through countless iterations and designs. And still its most famous colorway, the white on whites, continues to be on the top of most sneakerhead’s lists.
To celebrate this occasion, Nike Philippines has lined up a series of events over the holiday season leading up to the Nike Battle Force Basketball Tournament happening this Saturday December 2. Nike officially kicked off its AF1 celebration with the launch of the Nike x Titan Pop Up space in Titan Fort back in October, featuring the Nike x NBA collection of jerseys, apparel and team colorways of the Air Force 1. This special NBA AF1 version features a series of solid colorways with a slightly enlarged swoosh and Nike branding on the laces for a more stylish look. An embroidered AF-1 is seen on the tongue and heel along with the official NBA logo to complete the look.
The Air Force 1 also made its way back into the hardwood (sort of) when players from rival schools Ateneo and De La Salle rocked them during the pregame of their first round encounter. Check out how the players integrated the AF1 to their own personal style.
Also happening this week, along with the Battle Force event, the AF 100 collection is set to drop on December 2 featuring three collaborations from Travis Scott, ACRONYM and Roc-a-fella Records via special raffle at Titan fort. Be sure to follow them for full mechanics of the release.
The Battle Force Celebration Night happens this Saturday at Titan Love Court from 5pm. Be ready for a night of hoops, dance, rap and style and make sure you rock those AF1s.
